All we need now are a few deep red accessories for a "pop" of color, as they say on HGTV. There is one issue with the bolts for the toilet that Rob has to figure out before the place is completely functioning. And I want to add some accessories when the budget allows. But that is pretty much one bathroom done! Woo Hoo!

Master Bathroom - The Plan
The Master Bathroom will have a travertine tile floor and bath surround. The bath surround will have a row of blue glass tiles with a border of the travertine above it. The vanity and linen closet will be in an espresso finish. The door style and granite colors have been posted in a previous post. That shower curtain is not a definite yet, it has not been purchased. But it has various shades of blue squares that would tie the shower stall in to the design. The walls will be the Muslin Wrap color. The bath counter accessories are the blue color. I haven't decided on towel colors yet. Do you have an opinion? Feel free to leave a comment. Our fixtures are polished chrome. The main lights in the bathroom will be dark brown with white globes, fairly basic. We have not purchased the over vanity lighting yet.
Kids Bathroom - The Plan
I just realized I didn't post the color swatch and things for the bathrooms. Here are some pictures of selections we've made for the kids bathroom. The vanity in their bathroom will be one that is reused from our bathroom and painted a dark chocolate brown. The main light fixture in the ceiling will be dark brown with a white globe. I may take a picture of the box and post it later. We have not made a purchase of an over the vanity light yet.

Kids' Bathroom - Plumbing begins
In the morning Rob was able to get the tub and shower enclosure into place and ready for our plumber friend, Bob Pepper, to come and do the plumbing for it. Bob spent 5 hours with Rob getting the plumbing for the tub and shower installed (that included one trip to Lowes). Next weekend Bob is planning to come back and help us get our new water heater plumbed. Which means we also need to coordinate with our electrician friend, Michael Vick, for help wiring the heater properly. We have some wonderful friends!!!
The tub is fully functional now. If we could trust the kids not to get water outside of the tub, they could actually use it. But that won't be happening!
My job this week, is to paint the vanity that we are removing from our bathroom and have it ready to install when the time comes. Maybe on Thursday...
If Rob's schedule allows we will work on hanging drywall this week after he gets home from work each night. But my car also needs repair, so we'll see...

Deconstruction is over, Some progress is made today
Today Rob got some electrical jobs done. He wired for the new light above the vanity. He moved the main light switch to a location that makes more sense. He changes out all the metal boxes, for switches, outlets and lights. We also laid most of the backerboard today. Oh and Rob installed one piece of drywall in the ceiling so he could reinstall the needed light in the room.

Kids Bathroom - Gutted Pictures
This is the old water heater. As you can see its a pretty tight spot. The new Marathon water heater will not fit here. So it will go in a larger closet area to the right of this. In this spot we will be building up with 2x4s a little wall to cover the air intake that is to the left of the current water heater. Then we will slide in a premade off the shelf unfinished linen closet that will be painted to match the vanity.

Kids' Bathroom - DEMO!
We tore out more than originally planned. As we got further and further into it we kept deciding on more things we hated about the bathroom. We tore out all the drywall on the back wall because the whole thing was really goofy. When the previous owners added on the Master Suite it covered over what used to be a window in this bathroom. That made for some really odd trim work used to mask things that should have been done right in the first place. We also decided to tear out a weird access above the door that will be the new water heater closet. It was access to some never used storage that is too high anyway. So we took out the poorly installed doors and plan to drywall over that area. We tore out some moldy drywall around the tub surround. The tub/shower was torn out because it was cracked. We tore up all the flooring and sprayed the daylights out of an old moldy and water damaged wood flooring. Basically we gutted the place but for a small amount of drywall deemed OK.
In fact the above pictures are during demo not after. We also decided to tear out the weird ceiling tiles and put drywall on the ceiling. Like I said. GUTTED!

Kids Bathroom - BEFORE (sort of)

Master Bath - Vanity Purchase Finalized
We purchased our vanity today. It should be delivered in 3-4 weeks. I doubt we'll be ready for it by then :-) Here is what we ended up settling on... Well, its obviously sideways, but I'm tired and I don't feel like fixing it... But you get the idea. We decided on an 18" linen closet to the left of a 60 inch double sink vanity. The finish, door front style and counter top are the same as mentioned previously. We should have a 10" spot to the right of the vanity that will be perfect for the bathroom trash can.

Kids Bathroom - The story
When we moved in to our 1940's farm house, this bathroom was my least favorite room in the house. In fact I did not even like going in the room if I didn't have to. After we had used the tub once or twice for the kids, we noticed that it was cracked. The counter is ugly and discolored. There are many quirky things about the bathroom. In August of 2008, we won a Marathon water heater from a contest that our rural electric cooperative was having. Its too big for the existing water heater closet in that bathroom. So it has not yet been installed. We have determined that the new water heater would fit in the closet that is currently an abnormally large linen closet that is right next to the water heater closet. So we are going to switch the two uses. We will buy, paint and install an unfinished linen cabinet from the local supply warehouse in the existing water heater area. This bathroom also has a terrible musty smell that I'm sure we will know even more than we ever wanted to know about upon demolition!
What we bought today...
We went to Lowes today and bought these faucets for the kids and guest bathrooms. We also bought a chrome set of faucets for the kids tub/shower, but Lowes.com doesn't have a picture of them.
We bought a sconce for the hallway.
We bought a pedestal sink for the guest bathroom. This isn't the exact one, but its very close.
